Here is a first steps introduction to early number concepts and an opportunity to
familiarise your child with simple mathematical vocabulary and functions. It is
essential that your child grasps the basic concepts of adding and taking away before he or she can apply this understanding to more complex mathematical functions. The Early Years Foundation Stage guidance is provided for all day care, pre-school and primary schools – this pad reflects that guidance, supporting your child with solving problems using numbers between 1 and 10. All of this is done in a fun way, with plenty of visual clues so that your child can enjoy the
activities without even realising that he or she is learning! There are no answer pages in this pad, but it is essential that you give your child plenty of positive feedback – which is why we have included the reward stickers.

Counting
The activities in this pad introduce your child to the numbers 1 to 10 in a fun and
manageable way. Your child will be encouraged to point and count, to order
numbers, to become familiar with numbers and their formation, and to begin to
